Sipalay’s Hidden Critters Beyond the coral gardens and sweeping reefscapes lie the small wonders that make Sipalay’s waters truly unforgettable. From the exquisitely camouflaged to the brilliantly bizarre, Manami’s dive sites are home to a rich diversity of marine critters.
Barely the size of a grain of rice, this elusive seahorse exclusively lives on Muricella sea fans. Perfectly camouflaged in pink or yellow to match its coral home. Spotting one is a highlight of any dive, a prized find for patient eyes.
Velvety and graceful, this bunny-looking sea slug has a gentle demeanor, striking coloration, and wing-like flaps, known as parapodia, that make it look flowy and almost surreal as it glides gracefully across the reef, making it perfect for dreamy underwater portraits.
Small but mighty, this elusive octopus flashes its electric-blue rings when it feels threatened. Rare and hypnotic, it’s a prized find—but admire it from afar. Although it is rarely larger than a golf ball, its venom is potent; however, it poses no threat unless handled improperly.
Elegant, graceful, and surprisingly rare, this nudibranch brings a touch of refinement to the reefs of Manami Resort. Known for its pale yellow to creamy white body, edged with vibrant yellow frills. Its name, “cruenta,” means blood-spotted in Latin, referencing the unique crimson spots near the edge of its frilly mantle.
True to its name, this nudibranch looks like an undersea dessert. Its pale cream body and blue-fringed ruffles shimmer like icing and are adorned with fine brown speckles. It mimics the colors of sand, rubble, and sponges as it glides across the reef.
